Yao Ming to retire Wednesday

The biggest basketball name in China will set to announce his retirement on Wednesday according to ESPN. Yao Ming’s retirement has been in the news in the past weeks after his recuperation from injury couldn’t avail him to play the way he should in the NBA.

Yao provided all the fans the skills to be seen in a 7-foot-6 center as he played eight seasons in the NBA. His entrance in the NBA was magical as his game catapulted immediately from his rookie season. Every games that he matched with Shaquille O’Neal gathered high ratings in television. He had the moved that nobody can stop and he has the long range shot that other big men don’t.

The dominance of Yao in the low post makes him explosive. His pivot moves were fantastic and he dunked the ball sometimes. He was also a great free throw shooter even when the game is on the line.

Surely, he was in teh NBA All Start all his eight seasons and he was the overall pick in 2002 draft. His presence on the court changed the complexion of the game especially for the penetrations for Yao was also a shotblocker. In his career, Yao average 19 points and 9.2 rebounds. However he missed 250 regular season games in the past six years.

Yao played for the Houston Rockets all his career.
