Word Series Game 5: Rangers in 4-2 score and results
Mike Napoli again exploded in the 8th inning when he drilled in two run double that broke the tie for the Rangers to have the edge in the World Series 4-2. Napoli had been patient in delivering the double as the Rangers fans were all elated.
With yet another sterling performance from Napoli, Rangers are just one game away of winning the World Series that evaded them last year. Manager Ron Washington pushed the right buttons as Texas came out most of the time from the attacking hitters of the Cardinals. Washington’s decision making in his pitchers’ substitutions were excellent that the Cardinals blew all the opportunities.
On the other hand, Cardinals Tony LaRussa made all the mistakes and he the world will not forget his calls that allowed the Cardinals not to score. When the score was tied at 2-2, LaRussa called reliever Marc Rzepczynski. This time David Murphy drilled in to the mound and a possible double ending play, however, Rzepczynski knee trickled the ball that changed the direction of the ball that mad the bases loaded.
LaRussa blew those moments in the game and he stayed with him until Napoli made the hit.
Christ Carpenter pitched seven innings giving up two homeruns on Mitch Moreland and Adrian Beltre. Carpenter did a wonderful performance but it wasn’t enough because the Cardinals failed to take all those scoring opportunities.
Meanwhile CJ Wilson stayed tough when needed as he pitched 5.1 innings for 108 pitches. He was relieved after getting out of the fifth inning.
