Wimbledon 2012 Results: Andy Roddick falters, Andy Murray climbs

Andy Roddick found his way out of the Wimbledon 2012 again when he was defeated by David Ferrer in four sets 2-6, 7-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the third round.

After winning the first set convincingly, Roddick couldn’t continue his momentum in the second set as Ferrer made sure not to be down two sets as the two players were in a battle. Roddick undoubtedly was the underdog but he displayed heart in the match. Third set was so close again but it went all the way to Ferrer until Roddick’s strength faded in the fourth set.

Roddick was the 2003 winner of the Wimbledon and he tried to bounce back into his career having a heart procedure. Yes, his stint in the tennis world is not over but he has to be rested for a moment in a major collapse in the third round of the Wimbledon.

Andrew Murray also is on the court in today’s Wimbledon as he battles against Marcos Baghdatis. In the first set, Murray struggled a little as Baghdatis powered his volleys and services to disrupt the toughness of Murray. Currently the score in the second set is 2-2. It will be an opportunity for Murray to go deeper again in the Wimbledon because he knows that he can play against the remaining Big Two, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga outlasted Lacko in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the next round. Tsonga is one of the players expected to land to the semifinals and that he is a darkhorse of this competition.

In the Women’s Singles, Serena Williams advanced in a long match against Jie Zheng 6-7, 6-2, 9-7. Williams had a hard time on her second service but he prevailed because of his strong volleys especially in the third set.

No 2 Victoria Azarenka advanced to the next round by overwhelming Jana Cepelova 6-3, 6-3. Azarenka desires to capture back the No ranking but still Maria Sharapova plays to thwart that intention.

Williams, Azarenka, and Sharapova are expected to be in the semis and that they will be playing with such intensity in the next rounds of the Wimbledon 2012.

One of the matches that caught the attention is how Lukas Rosol will follow through his performance two days ago in beating Rafael Nadal. This time around, he played differently against the 27th seed Philiipp Kohlschreiber. Kohlschreiber defeated Rosol in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, 7-6.
