Tournament of Roses: Today is January 2, 2012 the Rose Parade, and Rose Bowl

Confused? If you just wake up and in wonder why in the world the Rose Parade or Tournament of Roses is today January 2? Or may be you searched it yesterday and there was no Rose Parade.

For the Tournament of Roses, there is the policy of “Never on Sunday” to avoid interference to the religious activities of most of the Americans. Surely, if it will be Sunday, then there are only few people participating and not even millions are watching on their television because the people are on the church. Again, today is January 2, 2012, the date for the Rose Parade 2012.

A tradition? Not really but it has become part of the American life. Just waking up early morning of January 1 each year, the Tournament of Roses. However, not this time for January 1 falls on Sunday. As we all get accustomed to, the Rose Parade composes of floats, marching bands, and of course equestrians. According to the Tournament of Roses website, the parade featured 43 differently designed floats and 21 bands to make it more pleasing for the audience.

Over a million people will be watching in the parade route in Pasadena, California. However, most will be watching on their television. Tournament of Roses captivates the eyes of the viewers because of the beautiful and awesome floats. Furthermore, the wonderful floats completely give life to the New Year as it begins with beauty.

With all the attention on the floats, the Tournament of Roses also has the theme for each year. “Just imagine…” is the theme for Tournament of Roses 2012. It defines the creative thinking of an individual through the use of imagination. Just imagine… if I designed one of floats. Just imagine..if I am one of the members of a band. Just imagine…if I live in Pasadena, then I should be watching there. There’s so much meaning on the theme alone.

The cream of the crop for the Tournament of Roses is the Rose Bowl Game. Yes, the college football game called Rose Bowl is the highlights of Tournament of Roses. This time around, the Wisconsin Badgers will have a gigantic collision against the Oregon Ducks. What a game to culminate the event.

There are also the Tournament of Roses winners that will be announced during the day. Just Imagine…if you are the winner? What would be your feelings. Yet the performance of the bands cannot be neglected at all. The marching bands prepared themselves for a long time just to be in this event called Tournament of Roses.

The television coverage of Tournament of Roses 2012 is on ABC. Though Hallmark and NBC channel are doing the broadcast also. Not to forget to mention that the Rose Parade is on going that started at 8:00 AM PST.
