Tour de France Stage 11 sprinters eye for the win

By

Tour de France 2011 Stage 11 continues as the riders will get through the route of 167.5 km from Blaye-les-Mines to Lavaur. Surely it will be one of the days that the sprinters have to fight all over again at the finish line. Though there are two categorized mountains to climb, the finish is absolutely flat for team Garmin, HTC, and Lampre to set up their riders.

Mark Cavendish is expected to make up on the second place finish yesterday as he was outsprinted by Andre Greipel. Cavendish has been the favorite in flat finishes that other teams need the best game plan in the last 1km to upset him. Meanwhile Farrar cannot be denied because he is capable of winning this stage also. It will be a tough finish to those sprinters. However, if breakaways will succeed then the sprinters day will be void unless all the sprinters’ teams will chase the breakaways until the finish.

For the big names like the defending champion Alberto Contador, last year’s runner up Andy Schleck, and Cadel Evans, it is important for them to stay out of trouble specially in the last part of the stage. Contador still is not giving up the chance of winning another title because he is just behind by more than one minute against Evans and Schleck.

Stage 11 is the preparation for the biggest stage on the road to Luz Ardiden on Thursday. Stage 12 is the measurement of the strength of the GC contenders like Contador and Schleck. Tour De France Stage 11 results might not change the top 10 in the Tour de France overall standings because they will be watching each other.
