Tigers vs Rangers Score: Detroit captures Game 3
The Detroit Tigers pulled off a 5-2 victory over the Texas Rangers in the American League Championship Series. Tigers cut the series deficit into 2-1 after Game 3.
In the fourth inning, the Tigers started to hit on Colby Lewis as Victor Martinez with a home run while in the fifth inning Miguel Cabrera doubled and Jackson scored for the Tigers.
Lewis already struggled on his pitches but still he has given the chance to continue. In the sixth inning Jhonny Peralta hit a solo home run off Lewis that instigated the bullpen to be active.
In the seventh inning, Cabrera again had a solo shot left to Uehara, making the score 5-1. This is a tremendous offensive attacks applied by the Tigers as they sealed the game.
Texas Rangers scored in the first inning through the single of Josh Hamilton as Ian Kinsler scored. Furthermore Yorvit Torrealba scored in the eight inning but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers completed the game.
Doug Fister pitched for 7.1 innings with seven hits, 2 runs, and 102 pitches. He delivered a winning performance that eventually bridged the gap between the two teams. On the other hand, Lewis pitched 5.2 innings with a total of 111 pitches, 8 hits 4 runs, and six strikeouts.
Preview:
Texas Rangers will have changes on the lineup as Mitch Moreland will be on the bench, Michael Young will take his place. Furthermore, Mike Napoli will be a DH from catcher, Yorvit Torrealba will start as the catcher. In the left field, Endy Chavez will start instead of David Murphy.
Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington knows exactly the significance of this game that he makes the necessary adjustments to be sure of a tougher and formidable lineup.
Meanwhile, Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland also makes movements on his lineup. Andy Dirk will start for Delmon Young. Leyland will not start Brandon Inge but Don Kelly will get the third base.
Game 3 is a battle of the will. Detroit back is against the wall and the Tigers must make some plays in order for them to taste a victory. It will not be an easy task for the Tigers to dominate this game but they must have enough persistence and courage to make the difference.
Of course, Tigers Ryan Raburn must make the difference again in this game as he provided the lift in Game 2 with that three run homer in the third inning. If Detroit will have to win this game, Cabrera and Martinez must be playing in a high level with Raburn.
