South Florida vs Pittsburgh: USF offense shines to score a lot

No. 16 South Florida will try to stay undefeated as it face Pittsburgh in Thursdays college football game. South Florida is a team which is ready to be part of the Bowl games as long it continues to win.

South Florida (4-0) has been climbing higher into the rankings since the team defeated Notre Dame in the opening game. South Florida’s offense significantly altered the way other teams defended them.

The Bulls have the offensive attacks that are hard to defend in the process of each game. Bulls controlled most of the possessions in a win against UTEP last week, 52-24. With a balance offense, USF offense didn’t let the defense UTEP to play an important role in that game.

Quarterback B.J. Daniels three 15 of 24 passes for 202 yards as he did the damage also by rushing 15 times for 130 yards. Both the passing and the ground game of Daniels supplied enough offensive firepowers for the Bulls. With his dominance, it would be hard for a team like Pittsburgh to cover him.

Daniels also found his targets Like Lindsey Lamar with four receptions for 85 yards, Evan Landi three receptions for 17 yards, and Sterling Griffin two receptions for 24 yards. Other players who caught Daniels passes were Joel Miller for 32 yards and Deonte Welch for 21 yards. Daniels has a lot of weapons to go aside from himself.

In the running game, Darrel Scott rushed 18 times for 87 yards, Victor Marc got 67 yards, and Demetris Murray for 53 yards. The accumulated yards on the ground showed that South Florida has the offensive power to dominate games.

For coach Skip Holtz, he will have the luxury of pressing the right buttons in order to win against Pittsburgh which has 2-2 start. South Florida remains unbeaten in the Big East and the team will have a chance to win the Big East. Bulls went for 3-4 in the Big East Conference last year, this is the moment that the team will have the chance to be in the conversation as a dominant team.

In that game against UTEP, the Bulls complied a total of 575 yards, that includes 373 on the ground. With that ground domination, Pittsburgh will have plenty of things to adjust in this game.

Pittsburgh Panthers two losses were stunning because they allowed their opponents to comeback in the fourth quarter. In the game agains Iowa in September 17, a 17 point lead evaporated and in last week the Panthers were shocked by Notre Dame in that game winning touchdown.

Pittsburgh’s running game is centered on Ray Graham who rushed 21 times for 89 yards in that game against the Fighting Irish. Furthermore, Zach Brown wasn’t successful enough by rushing three times for 12 yards.

The passing game for the Panthers was limited as Tino Sunseri only got 165 yards for 22 of 30 completions. Surely, it wouldn’t be enough to win game against Notre Dame.

In this game against the USF, the offense must score many points so that it can keep up until the fourth quarter. Pittsburgh’s defense is tough but in the fourth quarter it is missing. If Pittsburgh manages to have a chance winning this game in the fourth quarter, the defense must play superbly.
