Rafael Nadal vs Andy Murray: Roger Federer vs Novak Djokovic in the US Open Mens Semifinals
Just like that – Roger Federer is back in the US Open semifinals to face the top seed Novak Djokovic at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Flushing Meadows. Five time US Champion Federer seeks to win the last grand slam tournament of the year just to avoid not winning any of the four grand slams in many years.
Federer will have a difficult task ahead as he wants to topple the winner of the Australian Open and Wimbledon Djokovic who currently has the record of 62-2 this year. However one of the defeats that Djokovic suffered was from Federer himself in the French Open semis. Federer still has the stamina and desire to add more trophies to his sixteen career grand slams, including five here in US Open.
It would be painful for the Serb to be denied again to the final if Federer will have the command of this game. But we all know that Djokovic can be unstoppable in his serves and volleys. Djokovic won three of the four times they played this year except the Frence Open where Federer overwhelmed him, 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6.
Djokovic is at the prime of his career and he has the complete package to dominate his opponent. However, it would be a hard game for him to topple Federer.
Federer may be thinking about last year’s loss to Djokovic but this is the moment for him to be back in the finals without thinking anything about the other pair of the semifinals.
Federer won the quarterfinal round easily against Wilfried-Jo Tsonga in three sets while Djokovic entered here by beating Janko Tipsarevic in four sets. Federer vs Djokovic is a gigantic battle in the tennis world that everybody wants to see.
Can Federer win this semifinal matchup against the No 1 player in the world Djokovic? At 30, Federer might be giving his last shots at the US Open. He might probably make a different approach against Djokovic this time.
In the other pair of the US Open Men’s singles semifinals are Rafael Nadal vs Andy Murray. Truly, top four players in the world are in the semifinal round of the 2011 US Open.
Rafael Nadal pulled of a convincing victory against American Andy Roddick just to advance to this game. Nadal seeks his 11th grand slam title and he will surely be prepared to be at the highest level of the game. On the other hand, Andy Murray defeated John Isner in four sets to face Nadal.
