Redskins vs Ravens: Washington looks sharp against Baltimore

Washington seeks for its third consecutive win in the NFL preseason as it faces Baltimore in a battle of defenses Thursday, kickoff time at 8:00 PM ET. Without a doubt Redskins played the last two games with great defense and better offensive executions but they will have a tougher opponent in tonight’s game.

Redskins new starting quarterback John Beck provides the sparks in the offense as he completed 14 out of 17 passes for 140 yards in the previous game against the Indianapolis Colts. His leadership is about to be seen but his teammates respect him so much as he calls for the plays. Beck still needs to prove himself worthy of the starting role because his backup Rex Grossman waits on the wing.

If Redskins want to have a successful season, the offensive line must give enough room for the quarterback to make decisions in all the snaps as they will try to break the Ravens mounted defense through Ray Lewis. Protecting the quarterback and giving him the time to pass with accuracy will be significantly observed for the Redskins.

Santana Moss and Donte Stallworth as the wide receivers playing at the same time for the Redkins can create the offensive holes against the Ravens defensive scheme. However, we all know that Ravens free safety Ed Reed can cover them if needed. Yet still and advantage for Washington that both Moss and Stallworth play at the same time.

Offensively, Redskins will be tested if they can really play against a defense oriented team like the Ravens. Expect for Beck or Grossman to struggle as the game progresses because of Ravens defense. But if Redskins can spread the offense perfectly according to the plan, they will have a chance to win this game.

On the other side of the table, Baltimore Ravens rely on their defense to win games especially when the game is on the line. Ravens also has the offenive attacks through quarterback Joe Flacco. In last week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Ravens scored 31 points solving their deficiency in the offens. Flacco directed the team with 12 out of 24 completion for 124 yards.

The Ravens offense will be the key component in winning this game especially in the fourth quarter which quarterback Tyrod Taylor must perform like the way he played against the Chiefs leading two consecutive series that produced two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Moreover, the running game of the Ravens must find the holes in the middle so that the offense will become unpredictable against the Redskins defensive line. Ray Rice might probably take most of the running game attacks for the Ravens. He was successful against the Chiefs in last week by attempting seven times and making 44 yards.

Redskins vs Ravens is game in which Washington will measure themselves offensively against the great defense of Baltimore. If Redskins will shake the defense and win the game, then they are building a team that can contend in the NFC.

Which team do you think will win the game? Is it ripe for the Redskins to be successful over the Ravens?
