Ravens vs Patriots Score and Highlights: New England to Super Bowl 46

Nerve-wracking. Stunned. Elated. Words are not enough for the New England Patriots to describe the victory over Baltimore Ravens, 23-20. It was an AFC Championship game that made the viewers tensed all the way throughout.

With 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter, all eyes were set on Baltimore’s kicker Billy Cundiff when the ball was on the air as he missed the target in that 32-yard field goal that supposed to bring the game into overtime. After failing to deliver, the fans roared so wild in Gillette Stadium as the New England Patriots are back in the Super Bowl for the fifth time with Tom Brady as the quarterback and Bill Belichick as the coach.

In looking at the offense of the Patriots, Brady didn’t make the accurate passes but the defense held on for the team to advance in the Super Bowl 46 on February 5, 2012. Brady’s accuracy was affected by the defense of the Ravens as he couldn’t hit his targets in when they were in the redzone settling for Stephen Gostkowski’s three field goal. Brady completed 22 of 36 passes for 239 yards with two interceptions and no touchdown at all.

The Ravens had a chance to win it all in the fourth but they failed to make the touchdown pass in the last minute. It was amazing how the defense of the Patriots stood still when they were being attacked in the redzone that forced the Ravens to take the field goal.

For the Patriots defense, the group limited running back Ray Rice to only 67 yards in 21 carries. A well-designed defense by Bill Belichick was the key for this football game as they let Joe Flacco to take over through his passing ability. Though Flacco completed 22 of 36 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns, one interception, still he couldn’t make the right pass at the end of the ball game. Anquan Boldin caught six passes for 101 yards while Torrey Smith has three receptions for 82 yards for the Ravens offense.

The offense may not be the force in winning the game for the Patriots but Green-Ellis provided them the rushing game with 68 yards in 15 carries while Woodhead had 18 yards in 6 carries. Rob Gronkowski caught five passes for 87 yards while Aaron Hernandez caught seven passes for 66 yards. Wes Welker caught six passes for 53 yards. Brady also rushed for one-yard touchdown run with 11:29 left int he fourth quarter that completed the series with 11 plays in 69 yards. Brady’s evaded the defense of the Ravens when he jumped on the middle for the touchdown.

As the Patriots entered into the Super Bowl 2012, Brady will have another shot to tie Joe Montana in Super Bowl rings in the modern era. Also, this is the first time the Patriots beat a winning team in this season. Patriots defense provided them the morale going into the next game, the Super Bowl. New England Patriots vs New York Giants in the Super Bowl 46. Yes, a rematch of the 2008 Super Bowl which the Giants stole it away from the Patriots.
