PGA Tour Championship: Jason Dufner on top of leaderboard

Jason Dufner leads the first round of the Tour Championship 2011 which is the last leg of the Fedex Cup Playoffs at the East Lake GC, Atlanta Georgia.

Dufner has been in 3-under par after 11 holes as he birdied first, second and fourth holes. Dufner is making sure that he has a chance to be a winner in this PGA Tour Championship. Though Dufner is far of a threat in winning the Fedex Cup Playoffs, he will just try to capture this even.

The real battle are among five players who have a control on their destiny. Webb Simpson, top on the Fedex Cup standing 5,261 points, is at 1-under par after the fourth hole. Simpson won the Detsche Bank Championship as he accumulated the highest points. He has to show up big early to win the biggest prize of the PGA. We all know how capable he is in making this another title.

Dustin Johnson is not far behind with 3,841 points as he is even par at the moment after four holes. Johnson made all his putts par as he wants to be aggressive in the next holes. He has to play with precision and sometimes he has to take the risk.

What about Justin Rose, 3748 points, who just won the BMW Championship? He is shooting 2-under par after five holes in the PGA Tour Championship. He birdied the third and fourth holes consecutively that he has given an opportunity to control his course brighter.

The No 1 player of the World Luke Donald, 3,625 points, has to be on attack mode as he is at even after five holes. He birdied the first hole but he made a mistake on the second hold that he drilled in for a birdie.

Another player who is expected to make a move in this PGA leaderboard is Matt Kuchar, 3349 points. He is at 1-under par after four holes. Kuchar might need to win this Tour Championship to win the Fedex Cup. He has to play better and has to take risks to win this competition. However, there is still a small chance of him winning the Fedex Cup by not winning any tournament if places second and others on the top 5 fade.

Aaron Baddeley now joins Dufner on top of the PGA leaderboard at 3-under par after 15 as he does damage at the back nine. Baddeley birdied 12th and 15th holes to include him in the conversation for the day.

Keegan Bradley also is at 3-under par after the 12th hole. Bradley knows that a win for him at this stage will make his career better. He has been playing great at this moment and he has a chance to make this Tour Championship 2011 a win.

It is early to tell on who will win the competition but for sure this will be the most contentious of all the four legs of the Fedex Cup Playoffs.
