PGA BMW Championship leaderboard: Mark Wilson surges at Cog Hill
Mark Wilson shot 5-under par in the third round to be currently on top of the PGA BMW Championship leaderboard at the Coc Hill G&CC, Lemont Illinois. Wilson is one of the few players to hit 5-under par for the day to place himself in a position to win the title.
Wilson sustained his solid day as he drilled six birdies in the remaining holes after making the first hole a bogey. He didn’t gave up after that disappointing first hole instead he shifted gear to make those birdie putts that enabled him to compete for the PGA leaderboard in the second round. With precision and comfort, Wilson tackled the course as he finds himself on temporarily on top 11-under par for the tournament at the end of the day.
First round leader Justin Rose rises up to the occasion as he drilled in an eagle in the 15th hole and a birdie in the 16th hole as he regained the PGA leaderboard 12-under par for the tournament, 4-under par until the 16th hole. Rose putted that eagle with confidence as he went aggressive on his second shot. However, he knows that Wilson is making the noise in front of him. If he capitalizes in the next holes, we may find Rose on top of the PGA leaderboard at the end of the day.
Meanwhile, Webb Simpson knows exactly what is at stake in this third leg of the Fedex Cup Playoffs 2011. He understands that if he keeps being near the top, he can win the biggest prize of the year. Simpson currently the leader of the Fedex Cup playoff points standings is 3-under par until the 15th hole. He is in the third place at 9-under par.
John Senden is in the fourth place at 8-under par for the tournament. He shot for 5-under par in the second round. Senden still has the opportunity to make things happen for his side in the second round. With just four strokes behind the PGA leaderboard, Senden can make to move in the second round. He drilled in six birdies, a bogey and the rest pars. He failed to save the 18th hole by putting it bogey.
Bill Haas had a bogeyless second round performance as he shot for 3-under par for the day, 8-under par for the tournament. He connected for three birdies and the rest are pars. Haas knows that if he can raise his level of play, he can win this competition. He is just few strokes back.
Brandt Snedeker shot for 5-under par for the day also. He had a great day as he mounted this rally just to give him the chance to be near on top of the Fedex Cup Playoffs points standings. Yes, he is one of the top ten as of now and his goal is to win this thing out.
Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson who placed second in the Fedex Cup points standings before this tournament is currently 1-over par. In the tournament, he is now at 6-over par and he can be downed in the Fedex cup after this BMW Championship.
On the other hand, the No 1 player in the world Luke Donald chases back in the PGA leaderboard as he finished for 5-under par for the day. Donald is wise enough that he needed to make the move today after a disappointing first round performance. Donald is one of the players whose eyes are on the big prize. He is 1-under for the tournament
Matt Kuchar also is making the move 5-under par in the 14th hole. He can still manage to make himself in a higher position after the round. Kuchar is the most consistent player in this year without winning any title and it is possible that he can win the Fedex Cup by not having a title at all.
The race is wide for the BMW Championship 2011, look for Webb Simpson to rise higher in the next rounds.
