PGA AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Leaderboard: Tiger Woods six birdies in the 3rd round
Tigers Woods made the move in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Leaderboard as he is 5-under par in the 17 holes so far drilling in six birdies already. Woods put pressure on the leader Charlie Wi but it would still be a long way for him to catch up.
As the eyes of the world look for the comeback of Woods into the peak of his game, this is an opportunity for all to see him once again making his putts into perfection. In the back nine, after making the 12th hole par 3 into a bogey, he drilled in the five of the last six holes into birdies that enables him to be back in the contention with just four shots behind the leader. He converted the necessary putts to make his score higher and his calculations, most of the times were just perfect. Also Woods decided to be aggressive on his second shots to produce the outcome that he wanted. Will he be able to pull this over in the final round?
As for the leader Charlie Wi, his consistency paved the way for him to keep the lead at 15-under par, 3-under for the day. Wi played a bogeyless round three with three birdies in the fourth, 12th, and 17th holes to let him stay on top. He was so defensive that he was unwilling to make the risk. He played safe by not making the mistakes that others on the chase are waiting. With three shots lead, Wi is near of fulfilling his goal of winning the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am 2012.
Another player that makes the adjustments on his approach is Ken Duke. As the time of this article being written, he already is at 12-under for the competition, 5-under for the day with two holes left. He birdied the fifth, 10th, 13th, 14th, and 16th holes and the others are all pars. Duke is just three shots behind Wi and he still has a chance to make his case of challenging the current leader Wi.
Also tied in the second place is Pedraig Harrington who has five holes left to maneuver. He already has four birdies that catapulted him to be just three strokes behind the leader. He has been aggressive in the par 3 holes that he drilled both the 3rd and 15th holes for birdies. Harrington must continue to make the necessary moves and to take some risks so that he can catch up Wi.
For Phil Michelson, it may not be a great day for him but he advanced by hitting 2-under for the day, 9-under for the tournament. Mickelson failed to take advantage of the par-4 second hole as he finished it for a bogey that marred his almost bogeyless round. Still within the range of the leader, he needs to have an amazing fourth round to have an opportunity to capture this Pebble Beach National.
Brendon Todd also makes the surprises as his name floats in the PGA leaderboard with 2-under for the day, three holes remaining. He is currently 10-under for the tournament and he still has the capability to get near of the leader.
Kevin Na, Justin Johnson, Ricky Barnes, Vijay Singh are just currently 9-under par of the tournament and they have their shots of advancing into the leaderboard this afternoon. It is still a wide open competition but without a question, it is up for Wi to lose this tournament as he possesses the convincing lead.
