PGA AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am 2012 Leaderboard: Phil Mickelson captures the title
In a surprise turn of events, Phil Mickelson has a three shots lead in the Final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am 2012 Leaderboard as he climbed from 9-under par to 17-under par with a hole left remaining for him.
Mickelson made the improbable when he started making birdies in the fourth and fifth holes followed by an eagle in the sixth hole. He also birdied 13th and 14th hole to have himself a commanding lead. Mickelson did some risky shots in this Pebble Beach National Pro Am so that he can be on top as his run stunned other competitors. Furthermore, Mickelson is making any bad mistakes in his decision making this time around that he flourishes on his approach.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods fades from a third round success into a fourth round debacle as he 3-over par for the day, 8-under par for the tournament. Woods was expected to be the leader in this competition but he couldn’t make the necessary move that Mickelson did. Woods had five bogeys in his name while drilling in only two birdies after the 17th hole. It was so obvious that Woods faltered at the seventh, eight, and ninth holes when he drilled in consecutive bogeys respectively. It is another round in which Tiger Woods has to forget because of his errors and his mistakes of being so aggressive. His momentum has changed in respect to his approach in the seventh hole.
On the otherhand, Charlie Wi couldn’t keep up with Mickelson in the final round as he is 1-over par, 14-under for the tournament with the 18th hole left. From the first whole, we already shot for a double bogey and bogeys in the fifth and sixth holes. After those wholes, he couldn’t make the move that he usually did in the third round. As far as the his approach is concerned, he went on stay on his score by not taking some risks that he couldn’t make the comeback.
Ricky Barnes is also the player that makes the move as he is 5-under par of the day, -13-under par for the tournament. The first whole marred his performance as he bogeyed it but he came back in the fourth, fifth, and sixth holes with consecutive birdies. He followed it in the 10th, 14th, and 16th holes for birdies. Barnes significantly rallied but it wasn’t enough to tie Mickelson and to dismantle the PGA AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am 2012 Leaderboard.
Aaron Baddeley also made an excellent performance as he ended up 12-under par, 5-under par for the day. He solidly started the move in the first hole by making it a birdie, then followed consecutive birdies in the 4th, 5th, and 6th holes to make his case as a contender but his score couldn’t reach in the level of Mickelson.
