Big Ben has found his targets easily as Heath Miller caught seven passes for 85 yards while Emmanuel Sanders caught five catches for 70 yards. Furthermore, Antonio Brown had eight catches for 60 yards to help the Roethlisberger in his passing game.
Meanwhile, Tom Brady completed 14 of 21 passes for 125 yards with a touchdown. Brady has been being hovered by the defense of the Steelers in the first three quarters that he couldn’t get much time to pass for to his receivers. Also, Wes Welker is being defended well enough that he couldn’t find ways to distance himself.
Pre Game
Offensively, the New England Patriots is the best in the NFL with the average of 474.5 yards. It is a high powered offense as Brady anchors the offense. Yes, Brady can still play with explosiveness for the offense.
In addition, New England has the running game with Benjarvus Grenne-Ellis pushing himself through the gaps and spaces the defense gives him. If the rushing game will be effective, then the Patriots have the easy route of winning this game against the Steelers.
Furthermore, the Patriots has the rushing defense to stifle the opponents capability of taking more time in the possessions. Also, the Patriots are ready to meet the Steelers as the marquee game of the day.
After a bye week, the Patriots have enough time to prepare themselves for yet another offense rhythm from Brady’s offense. Of course, Bill Bellichick understands that the Patriots will have the necessary players to win this game.
Emerging from their bye week, the Patriots look to re-establish their top-ranked offense and beat the Steelers for a fifth consecutive meeting with Brady under center as the divisional leaders face off Sunday.
New England’s record 6-1 overall against the Steelers when Brady starts, and he’s guided them to four wins in five visits to Heinz Field and most notably, two conference championships. Brady knows how to play the Pittsburgh Steelers. he completed 30 of 43 passes for 350 yards and three touchdowns in that game against the Steelers last year.
There is a speculation that the Pittsburgh Steelers will have to shutdown Welker by putting cornerback Ike Taylor. For sure, Taylor specializes in this magnitude of the game and he always delivers. However, only Tomlin knows what the Steelers have in mind against the offense of the Patriots. However, after hour upon hour of film study, game-planning and practice, Tomlin and defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau realized that Taylor is the best option in containing Welker. At 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, Taylor has the size, speed and athleticism needed to get physical with Welker, who’s 5-9 and 186. Stopping Welker will be the key in this football game.
Expect for Taylor to be on Welker as the game progresses. Of course it will affect the game of the Patriots because someone is looking after Welker most of the time.
