NFL lockout over, NFL resumes!

NFL lockout finally is over as the NFL players voted unanimously for the approval of the new deal Monday. The thought of living unsatisfied without the NFL for a year has turned into jubilation. The NFL lockout has ended and NFL 2011 is here.

Last week the owners voted to approve the new deal with a 31 of 32 teams and one abstained to let the NFL players know there’s a football season awaiting for all. NFL is the most popular sports in the United States that many concerns of the stoppage. It is also the sports with the biggest revenue generated that if possible it will not be hindered by both the owners and the players. But today, the people know that the NFL is back as the players and owners agreed.

Outside the NFL Players Association headquarters, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell an NFLA head Maurice Smith spoke about the decision of the 32 team representatives who cast their votes.

After the votes, work begins as the 32 teams will prepare for yet another fruitful season full of football actions. The 4 1’2 months of of negotiations created hundreds of questions but everything is answered today.

The new terms of the deal will cover 10 years that the players were satisfied to finally decide on the unresolved issues. Furthermore, the teams can now work out on free agents as the NFL will release the list of free agents. Also, the players can now use the team facilities to start their preparations and trainings.

Moreover, teams can now sign their 2011 draft picks and undrafted rookie free agents on Tuesday with the additions of trades being made in the conversation but the signing will start on Friday.

Who’s the winner in this deal? Surely, the first winners are the fans of the NFL who love the game that it has become part of their lives, though many thinks that fans are losers because they have to hear a lot of nonsense talks. The players and the owners of course are the obvious winner.

However, there are also the biggest losers in the NFL lockout. Because of the new agreement, the top 10 picks in the draft will no longer get the same affluent contract like the way it was before like what Sam Bradford got last year. Also, undrafted players took the hit also because the team’s budget allocated for signing bonus is now limited to $75,000.

It wonderful to find out that the NFLPA and the owners met halfway to make the NFL’s existence alive. Monday Night Football is back, your team is back, and your favorite players will soon be in uniform again.
