NFL Free Agency, New England Patriots acquires Chad Ochocinco
The New England Patriots made the biggest move by acquiring wide receiver Chad Ochocinco from the Cincinnatti Bengals and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth from the Washington Redskins.
Ochocinco has been consistent with the Bengals all his career and this time he decided to be with the Patriots receiving the passes of quarterback Tom Brady. The Patriots is ready to enhance its wide receiver as the team needs somebody to catch the long passes. Patriots gave up Randy Moss last season but still the team went on to get the best record in the regular season at 14-2 record.
Chad Ochocinco formerly know as Chad Johnson has been in the league for 10 years. However, his performance has been in a decline getting only 67 passes for 831 yards and four touchdown last season. Ochocinco also has been selected six times in the Pro Bowl. Most of his career, he reached the marked of 1,000 yards receiving. He agreed to a restructured 3 year contract
The upgrade of the New England Patriots in the offense will absolutely make other teams like the New York Jets to be concerned.
With Johnson, the New England Patriots can go deeper to the playoffs.
Also, the Patriots have the upgrade on their defense with defensive tackle Haynesworth. Haynesworth didn’t get the best of his last year with the Redskins while he repeatedly argue with coach Mike Shanahan and even skipping workouts. He was suspended in the final four games last season.
Haynesworth is only 30 years old and can help as he plays best win a 4-3 scheme. Bill Bilichick will have the luxury of trusting his defensive team through the impact that Haynesworth will bring.
Tom Brady might be having another MVP season with the insertion of Chad Ochocinco on his wide receivers. Still the New England Patriots is the team to beat because of the free agencies that they picked today.
The impact of Ochocinco will be felt by Brady immediately as he can now through the ball long. Chad Ochocinco is a great replacement for Randy Moss who played four games for the Patriots last year.
