NFL Free Agency: Matt Leinart to the Seattle Seahawks?

By

NFL Free Agency 2011

Matt Leinart will be signing to the Seahawk?. If this happens, Leinart reunites with his college coach at USC Pete Carroll whom he had all the success in the past.

Leinart will have to compete for the starting job with Tavaris Jackson as Seahawks got him also as quarterback. Jackson played for the Minnesota Vikings in the past and he will sign a contract on Friday.

Last year Leinart’s career was at the pit when he was not chosen as the starting quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals following the retirement Kurt Warner. Leinart expected himselft to get the job but he was denied by his coach. He went on to be the third string quarterback of the Houston Texans but he never played at all. Leinart is known for his triumphs in his college years but he hasn’t been successful since he turned pro.

According to the news, Seattle Seahawks found out that Matt Hasselbeck conversed with Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers since the lockout was over. Hasselbeck will be 36 on September and he might be playing with the Titans or 49ers. The Seahawks offered him the amount of $7 million for this season but he might probably not interested in playing with the Seahawks.

Hasselbeck is one of the most successful quarterbacks in his generation. He brought the Seahawks to the Super Bowl though his team lost to the Steelers. He didn’t played greatly last season unde Carroll’s offensive schemes. He even was booed by the fans in his playoff game against the Saints.

Hasselbeck was drafted by the Greenbay Packers and was a backup of Brett Favre. He was traded to the Seahawks in 2001 and played and started for 10 years.

Meanwhile the contract of Jackson hasn’t been disclosed, he was picked by the Vikings in 2006 but most of his career he was a backup to Favre.

The move of the Seahawks to get both Leinart and Jackson surprised many of the NFL analysts. Furthermore, Leinart will have another chance to prove himself that he belongs to the NFL.
