NFL Free Agency: Carson Palmer retires. One of the names in the NFL Free Agency is Carson Palmer who according to reports that Mike Brown will not trade him at all. Palmer said in in the past that he will retire if he will not be traded by the Cincinnati Bengals.
As the NFL Free Agency continues, Palmer and the Bengals are on the stalemate yet the Palmer’s desire might backfire him. Bengals owner said that he expected Palmer not to be back. In his statement, ” Carson signed a contract, he made a commitment. He gave us his word. We relied on his word and his commitment. We expected him to perform here. If he is going to walk away from his commitment we aren’t going to reward him for doing it.”
Carson Palmer was drafted by the Bengals as the first overall draft in 2003. Palmer was considered by the Bengals to make the franchise successful. He had a promising career when he led his team went on to 11-5 record since 1990. However, his career was tortured with injuries on his knees. Will Carson Palmer be retiring?
Brown’s stance is strong that Palmer’s dissatisfaction paved the way for him to express himself. The Bengals will be looking for another starting quarterback to compete in the AFC.
Meanwhile Carolina Panthers chased defensive end Charles Johnson and offered him a contract of $72 million for the next two years with a $30 million signing bonus. He will be signing the contract on Friday.
Johnson was stunned by the the offer and he will stay with the Panthers. He was also considering the offer from Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos. Surely, Johnson will be satisfied with the new contract he has.
Johnson played a great season in 2010 by getting 11 1/2 sacks as the starter. Furthermore, he has been a big help in the defense of the Panthers which will try to be in the playoffs in this season.
According to the Denver Post, Kyle Orton was put on a trading block and that he expressed in the past that he don’t like to be the backup of Tim Tebow. Though Orton played exceedingly great in the his two year as starter throwing 41 touchdown passes against 21 interceptions for the Broncos.
The NFL free agency 2011 will continue as players will be finding the right teams for their careers.
