Carmelo Anthony might become the savior of the Knicks franchise. Amare Stoudemire hinges the team to dream bigger. But the best of all is the presence of Tyson Chandler as the center of New York.

The whole Dallas team admitted that Chandler was instrumental in providing the Mavericks their first championship ring. Even coach Rick Carlisle acknowledged that Chandler was the missing piece in their previous playoffs mishaps. Chandler made the defense stronger for the Mavericks last season. But can he do it again for the Knicks?

No matter how powerful the presence of Chandler in the middle for the New York Knicks, it is still the style of game that coach Mike D’Antoni will be using. The fact that D’Antoni has the principle of run and gone offense, Chandler may not be as effective in Knicks uniform. D’Antoni doesn’t give emphasis on the defense that when he was in Phoenix, he couldn’t get along with then-manager Steve Kerr on the principle of defense wins playoff series.

In this game against the Lakers, Chandler will be back to play against Lakers Pau Gasol. Of course Gasol wants to show to the world that he is better than Chandler. Though he doesn’t need to prove it. Chandler’s game will rely primarily on what kind of game the Knicks will be implementing as the season progresses. However, it gives New York a fair battle in the middle that can eliminate the advantage of other teams especially the Lakers.

With Chandler, Anthony will be taking more shots knowing that there is somebody out there who can grab offensive rebounds. Also, Anthony-Chandler-Stoudemire troika is hard to match. Even the Lakers couldn’t match that line up. Notwithstanding the fact that Baron Davis can be added in the mix soon.

As for the Los Angeles Lakers, this is a new team that can be out of the spectrum until they convince the basketball fans that they can be a contender and that they can compete even without Lamar Odom and Phil Jackson. Of course the presence of Odom will be missed. The mind of Jackson will not be there anymore.

Kobe Bryant is the main player of the Lakers. He knows that he is running out of time to reach six titles in his career. He realizes that age is catching him that his dominance is no longer being manifested in the basketball court.

A better look at the match up of Bryant vs Anthony for the last season probably that Bryant will have a promising one. Few years left for Bryant to be as he is. This could be the last. The Lakers won their last game against the Jazz after two consecutive losses. This is their fourth game in five nights. An unfair schedule for the Lakers but the good thing about it is that they are playing at home.

Metta World Peace will play extensive minutes here just to defend Anthony. Yes, Metta World Peace can take some of the time of Odom from the bench. He is the third person who can help the Lakers in scoring next to Bryant and Gasol.
