For the Lakers, it’s home sweet home. After failing to make the statement on the road by making only 3-3 record, the Los Angeles Lakers are back at the Staples Center where the whole team plays exemplary great. Yes, the woes on the road still hinders the Lakers to be on top of the NBA.
Not everything is going on for the Lakers thus far as they try to maintain their composure at home against the Atlanta Hawks. Still, the Lakers look for ways to maximize their talents by not using the triangle offense. It is a significant adjustments as far as the players are concerned. Kobe Bryant continues to be the center of the offense of the Lakers but the problem exists because his teammates are not in familiar territory in the coach Mike Brown’s system.
Bryant averages 29.3 points per game and he extensively touches the ball more often. He has the go signal to take the shots without Phil Jackson yelling at him. Though he is successful most of the time, still the team couldn’t win big on the road. This is a game for the Lakers to make the case that they are the strongest team playing at home.
On the other hand the Atlanta Hawks catapult as one of the beasts of the East not looking at the Knicks capturing all the attention in the past week because of Jeremy Lin’s performances. Atlanta is a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta suffered a terrible defeat against the Heat last Sunday and that the Hawks are known not to deliver the important punches against a stronger and bigger team. This is a test for the Hawks whether they have what it takes to beat a team prominently known as one of the powerhouses in the NBA.
Coach Larry Drew knows exactly that when it comes a team with winning percentage, his team is prone to lose. However, this is the moment for the Hawks to show forth their stamina and power. Hawks’ Joe Johnson has been dominant in games against sub -.500 opponents but he can actually level up his game against the Lakers.
It is important for the Hawks to start well in this game so that they will have the edge going into the fourth quarter. It is a game for the Hawks to contain Bryant and his team and that the start of five road games for the Hawks will be crucial.
Andrew Bynum is a key element for the Lakers defensively as sustains his blocking ability against the offense of the Hawks. Furthermore, Pau Gasol will absolutely be the sidekick of Bryant when it comes to scoring.
