After losing to Clemson in the opening Week, Georgia bounced back in a must win game against South Carolina Gamecocks, 41-30, to stay No 9 in the AP Poll. As one of the beasts in the SEC, Georgia football needs to continue winning hoping that they will have a shot at the SEC title and a potential berth to the National BCS game.
In the win against Gamecocks, quarterback Aaron Murray completed 17 of his 23 passes for 309 yards, four touchdowns and no interception. He stayed calm against the pressure defense of South Carolina and he didn’t throw an interception at all. Murray will have to keep finding his receivers to sustain the high-powered offense that they are implementing.
Scott-Wesley caught three passes for a whopping 116 yards and one touchdown to help the Bulldogs. Also in both passing and rushing, Keith Marshall accumulated 114 yards, 58 yards on the ground and 54 yards in the air. Michael Bennett and Arthur Lynch will be available to strengthen the offense of Georgia.
The Bulldogs have so many weapons to use against North Texas. In the rushing attack, Todd Gurley rushed for 132 yards and one touchdown against the defense of the Gamecocks. It will be interesting to find out how the Bulldogs offense will play out against North Texas.
Offensively, Georgia averages 316 yards per game in passing and 224.5 yards per game in rushing. More than 500 yards total in offense will be difficult for North Texas to stop. Defensively, Georgia yields an average of 249 yards per game in passing and 211.5 yards per game in rushing. The defense is the area for the Bulldogs to have improvements.
North Texas can make something of the ordinary in this match. North Texas football surprisingly pulled off a 34-27 victory over Ball State last week. Thus, North Texas has the ability to upstage an upset against the ranked team.
In that game against Ball State, North Texas utilized three backs with at least 65 yards to dominate the ground game. Brandin Byrd had 79 yards in 18 attempts, Derek Thomson had 72 yards and Reggie Pegram had 65 yards to complement each other. The running offense of the North Texas will be important in denying the defense of Georgia.
In the receiving Chancellor caught nine passes for 88 yards and Darnell Smith had 64 yards receptions in nine catches. Carlos Harris and Darvin Kidsy will also be components in the passing offense of North Texas.
Offensively, North Texas averages 291 yards per game in passing and 174 yards per game in rushing. Defensively, North Texas yields an average of 267.3 yards per game in passing and 168.3 yards per game in rushing.
