In the shadow of losing a game. That’s what it takes to be disqualified in the National Championship game unless they are Alabama Crimson Tide. The offensive systems of Oklahoma State Cowboys will have a momentous collision against the offense of Stanford Cardinals in the Fiesta Bowl 2012.
What about a shootout? Fiesta Bowl 2012 features two of the high-powered offenses in college football. The best team in the Big 12 Conference against the offensive firepower of the Stanford Cardinal is the Fiesta Bowl is all about at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
Consider it as a national title game if you are a football fan who loves high scoring games. As a matter of fact, these two teams were considered to be in the BCS Standings for the second spot but Alabama got the votes. It was just that both teams suffered unexpected losses along the way that disqualified them to be in the national title game.
Oklahoma State showed what they are capable of doing as they annihilated Oklahoma Sooners in the Bedlam game that put them on top of the Big 12 Conference. A game in which the Cowboys dominated because of their offensive attacks. Also, in that win against the Sooners, it was evident that the defense perfectly negated the opponents advantages.
The Cowboys will have to play that kind of defense to contain the offense of Stanford Cardinal. An offense that looks like the same with them but it is just different on approaches. Quarterback Brandon Weeden must continue to find ways on how to make his team take all the opportunities when they have the ball. Weeden is one of the prolific quarterbacks in college football and he needs to lead this team in a victory in the Fiesta Bowl 2012.
Not be filled with satisfaction after losing the chance to meet LSU Tigers in the national championship game, still the Cowboys can land the second in the nation with a win. Not that they can be the No 1 team in the nation but at least they can question the validity of having a better system to get the best team in the nation, not the BCS system.
Stanford Cardinal will showcase their star quarterback Andrew Luck for the last time. Many speculations early this week that he will be the successor of Colts Peyton Manning as Luck will be the first pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Luck is the anchor of the offense of the Cardinal as he guides them in this Fiesta Bowl 2012. His sharp decision making provides the team the edge over Oklahoma State. He can manage the game with such success especially when they have the lead. His throwing efficiency can be the major factor in derailing the defense of Oklahoma State. The fact that Luck will be playing his last college game will make him on the attacking mindset.
Stanford failed to be in the conversation for the BCS championship game because they haven’t won the Pac 12 Conference. Losing to the Oregon Ducks costs the Cardinal the National title game. Of course they are supposed to be ranked second if they stayed undefeated and that they should be facing the Tigers. That’s not the story, they will have a showdown against Oklahoma State.
With both offenses strong and aggressive, expect for a shootout that makes the spectators tingling. Fiesta Bowl 2012 score is available here. The TV coverage of the Fiesta Bowl is on ESPN.
