Snubbed. Hurt. Unloved. Kansas State felt that they should be playing in a BCS game. Arkansas can do nothing as the rule cannot provide them a better bowl game than this. Kansas State vs Arkansas football is supposed to be a BCS game but destiny allowed it not to happen so that there will be the Cotton Bowl 2012 showdown.
Kansas State Wildcats failed to beat two teams in the Big 12 while Arkansas Razorbacks are behind the teams that will play in the national title game. The Wildcats couldn’t shake Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Hogs couldn’t take care of Alabama and LSU. Both teams have the record of 10-2, both teams have explosive offense. As exciting as it can be this is the Cotton Bowl 2012 that features two of the best teams in college football.
Arkansas might be the best team outside LSU and Alabama as no teams have defeated them outside the Tigers and Crimson Tide. The Razorbacks cannot compete for another BCS game even though they ended up No 6 in the BCS because the rule says that there can be no three teams to play in BCS game coming from one conference. With the powerful offensive attacks, Arkansas can make things happen against Kansas State but this is collision of two gigantic teams that no one knows who will have the edge.
Tyler Wilson will be the key ingredient for the Arkansas success as he leads the team into victory. Wilson has been consistent this season through his capability of lifting his team when needed. Wilson is the best quarterback in the SEC in terms of passing as he accumulated 3,422 yards and 22 touchdowns. Wilson is in a position to alter the complexion of the offense against Kansas State defense. Of course Wilson has to fine his receiver Jarius Wright to make the offense flow with greatness. Wright had 1,029 yards in 63 catches with 11 touchdowns. Wright is the most explosive wide receiver for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
In addition, Arkansas also has the defense to stop great offenses. Don’t forget that this is an SEC team and that they have the fast players to make the difference. With speed and athleticism, the Hogs have the edge against Kansas State. However, the key of the game will still be execution and determination. Arkansas Razorbacks will make this game in a high level because of their offense and defense.
Kansas State is not far from Arkansas in terms of offensive firepower. In fact they might be better because we don’t have the ability to gauge the offenses. With the long preparation that they have, the Wildcats can be a better team.
Wildcats will rely primarily on their quarterback Collin Klein who can do both passing and rushing effectively. He threw for 1,745 yards and 12 touchdowns while he also added 1,099 yards of rushing and 26 touchdowns. He is the single player that Kansas State has to make it an advantage for them. Kansas State has the offensive attacks that no other teams has in terms of starting from a quarterback that can do both.
Can Kansas State beat Arkansas? Still a question of defense for Kansas State to win this game. The ability to shut down the Hogs in making plays will be the barometer of winning for Kansas State. They may not stop completely the offense of Razorbacks as long as they keep the game tight, then Kansas State can take the victory.
