Tougher than others. Stronger than most. Playing better. Left out from the BCS Games. Arkansas Razorbacks vs Kansas State Wildcats football showdown in the Cotton Bowl 2012 will be highly anticipated.

Arkansas is supposed to be in one of the BCS games as it ended No 6 in the nation in the BCS Standings but there’s a rule that doesn’t allow three teams from a conference. Not that they are not deserving, but the rule is the rule that must be followed. A consolation prize is be be playing one of the prestigious bowls in the nation, the Cotton Bowl. Arkansas at one time were No 3 before playing the LSU Tigers that they couldn’t afford to win. Losing only to LSU and Alabama provides the spectators the question, “Arkansas could be the No 3 team in the country”.

Kansas State may not be satisfied by the way they were treated as the Wilcats are supposed to be in the the Sugar Bowl but instead they were not chosen. With two losses from the Cowboys and Sooners, Kansas State can win games and that this is a legitimate contender. Absolutely, it is not a pushover team and it can shatter the defense of Arkansas. Really?

Arkansas Razorbacks have a high-powered offense in the nation but it fell short against the top two teams in the nation. However, this can be a challenge to display that offense as coach Bobby Petrino will be making the calls on how he will maneuver the offense. Quarterback Tyler Wilson will anchor the team against the defense of Kansas State. Without a doubt Wilson can aggressively navigate through the mouth of the defense of the WildCats. He accumulated 3,442 yards of passing, 22 touchdowns and just only six interceptions. Of course there’s always a question of reliability on his targets but this season proved that Jarius Wright can play the wide receiver with success as he has 1,029 yards on the air in 63 catches and 11 touchdowns.

In the rushing game of Arkansas, Dennis Johnson has 637 yards in 101 attempts on the ground while Ronnie Wingo has 440 yards in 95 rushes. Arkansas Razorbacks have the balance offense to apply in this Cotton Bowl 2012. Significantly, Arkansas is the most explosive team in the SEC that they can play high octane offense. Also, the Razorbacks can rely on their defense against Kansas State. Just to really find out how faster and stronger are the players from SEC if other teams can really compete with them.

Kansas State will be showing its greatest weapon in the Cotton Bowl. An all around quarterback who can dismantle the defense of Arkansas. Collin Klein who threw for 1,745 yards and 12 touchdowns, that’ s it? But he rushed for 1,099 yards – a school record for a quarterback. He also has 26 touchdowns in his name. Collin is the reason why Kansas State can beat Arkansas in this football game. Not that he is only the weapon, the Razorbacks have to deal with John Hubert who accumulated 933 yards in the ground including three touchdowns. It is not all about Klein but he has other teammates that can play football at the highest level.

Coach Bill Snyder knows that his team has the advantage in the running game. He will be using both Klein and Hubert to make things happen for Kansas State to score points early in the game. However, still the team must be able to make adjustments most specifically on the defensive side as the Razorbacks can score also. It is also important to emphasize that special teams are very important for Kansas State to play well enough against a much faster opponent.

Look for Arkansas kicking team as the players returned three touchdowns this season with Johnson, Marquel Wade, and Joe Adams. Arkansas has the advantage in the intangibles but Kansas State can eliminate that as the game progresses.
