Chargers vs Cowboys: Tony Romo ready to play for Dallas?

The Dallas Cowboys hosts San Diego Chargers in one of the NFL preseason games tonight at the Cowboys Stadium at 8:00 PM ET. Cowboys look to sharpen the team’s offense as quarterback Tony Romo might be available to play.

Cowboys suffered a loss from the hands of Denver Broncos in the first game last week without Romo as the quarterback. The team relied primarily on quarterback Stephen McGee with 14-24 passes for 208 yards. His three touchdown passes can be a signal that the Cowboys have a solid backup this season.

Dallas has Dwayne Harris as their top receiver in the previous game catching five passes with 127 yards. However, still his performance didn’t convert into a win as the Broncos edged them 24-23. Rookie wide Harris caught two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter in that game. Yes, he impressed the staff and he made himself known in the NFL. Can he be aggressive in his routes against the Chargers?

Still the offense of the Cowboys need to have the chemistry to be in the playoffs. According to many people and fans, it looks like that Romo has been overrated as quarterback with so much expectations in his shoulders. McGee’s performance in this game might be the gauge for the team to have a quarterback controversy but that may be far to happen.

McGee still has to get pass quarterback John Kitna who lead the Cowboys in the last eight games of last season when Romo was injured. Kitna played magnificently leading the Cowboys in a 5-3 stretch. Still Kitna is the number two quarterback in the Cowboys chart.

On the other hand, San Diego Chargers look to rejuvenate the team after a loss to Seattle Seahawks in the first game. Chargers is one of the teams in the AFC that has the solid lineup but the team failed to go deeper in the playoffs. Still the goal of Chargers is to make the starters healthy ready for the regular season games that they will play limited time against the Cowboys.

In the previous years, Chargers had problems in their defense instigating the team to add two defensive starters Takeo Spikes and Travis Laboy. Furthermore, the addition of Cory Liuget and Marcus Gilchrist in the draft will surely boost their chances of winning each game.

Without a doubt, Philip Rivers still is the quarterback of this team as he played a great game in the opening posting 5 out of 6 passes for 87 yards. Rivers understands that this is a better team that can compete against the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, and even Indianapolis Cots. This may be the year that Rivers will break through the Super Bowl.

Offensively, Rivers has to anchor the team in the first series then eventually he will be in the sidelines for the rest of the game. It will be a tough game for the Chargers as they play against Cowboys with the crowds roaring at them.

Expect the Cowboys to start early with force to avoid getting behind like what happened to them against the Broncos. Furthermore, look for the defense of the Cowboys if it improves dramatically.
