Cardinals to acquire Kevin Kolb, DeAngelo Williams stays with the Panthers

By

Kevin Kolb might be landing to the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL free agency drama. According to the NFL.com, sources revealed that Kolb will be traded by the Philadelphia Eagles to the Cardinals within 48 hours.

Kolb has been the starting quarterback of the Eagles until he got injured and Michael Vick played his comeback game. Because of Vick’s ability to let the Eagles become successful, coach Andy Reid decided to place Kolb as the backup quarterback despite the fact that he already was ready to play.

When Donovan McNabb was traded to the Washington Redskins, Kolb got his turn as the starter for the Eagles. He has a bright future as a quarterback that the Eagles treated him as an asset.

Onn the other hand, Arizona Cardinals look for the quarterback who can fill in the shoes of retired Kurt Warner. Cardinals cut ties with Matt Leinart before the start of the season last year and the move didn’t give the team with success. The team failed to enter into the playoffs despite the weak conference they were in.

Kolb will give the Cardinals the necessary leadership for the position and probably he might lead the team to the playoffs.

In other development, safety Eric Weddle will be the highest paid at his position as the San Diego Chargers laid down a contract for him. The Charger locked up Weddle in a five-year $40 million. In this contract, Weddle receives $19 million guaranteed and $13 million signing bonus

The Chargers locked up Weddle by agreeing to terms on a five-year, $40 million deal, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported, citing a league source. Weddle receives $19 million guaranteed and a $13 million signing bonus.

Runningback DeAngelo Williams stays with Carolina Panthers as he led the rushing in 2010 season. According to reports, he agreed for a five year contrack. DeAngelo Williams provides the necessary yardage in every play if needed for the Panthers.
