Update
Nova Djokovic defeated Andy Murray 6-3, 3-6, 6-7, 6-1, 7-5 in the Australian Open Semifinals to advance to the Finals on Sunday.
A tense moments in the Australian Open 2012 as Novak Djokovic leads 4-2 in the fifth set over Andy Murray as the winner will advance to the men’s finals to face Rafael Nadal. It is the same story as last year in a sense that they battled again for the right to be in the finals. Though last year, Djokovic overwhelmingly defeated Murray in straight sets. Djokovic has just broken Murray’s service and it will be a window of opportunity for the Serb to win it all.
With all the attention of both Murray and Djokovic, it is interesting to find out that both players are performing their best and that Murray this time is not giving up easily in comparison to 2011. For Djokovic, it is a matter of endurance on his part if his health will bring him back to face Nadal. Of course the advantage now goes to Nadal as Djokovic and Murray are over extending themselves.
The Serb as the No 1 player in the world is in one of the biggest test of his career since he became the best in the world. As Murray pounds with determination on his volleys and powerful services, Djokovic still is in quandary most specifically when he is not serving. Murray has became better this Australian Open and that he is ready to advance just a set to do it.
Djokovic captured the first set while Murray got the second. The third set was contentious as Murray overpowered his opponent in a tie-break. However, Djokovic didn’t give up easily as he bounced back to tie the set. The fifth set is a winner takes all and the two players are playing it with such determination and such will to win the match.
Djokovic got into the semis by defeating Lleyton Hewitt and David Ferrer in the previous two matches. Though he struggled with Ferrer, still Djokovic managed to pull off the victory. On the other hand Murray surprisingly defeated Mikhail Kukushkin and Nei Nishikori in his last two games. It is the advantage of Murray to be in this game because of his easy opponents in his previous matches.
Still not known if Djokovic has enough power on his legs to keep pounding the ball and to be aggressively on the net to topple Murray. If this match goes longer, then it will be obvious that Murray’s fresh legs will take the game. Djokovic is in a match that he has to make to have him the chance again to be in the finals. However, Murray is still looking for his title in the Australian Open.
