Alabama faces Auburn in Iron Bowl 2017

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide will have one of their biggest tests before entering into yet another College Football Playoff appearance as they face the No. 6 Auburn Tigers on Saturday, November 25, 2017.

The game between Auburn and Alabama is traditionally called the Iron Bowl. With so much at stakes for he College Football Playoff, both teams are having superb season so far.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are just two games away for another shot at the college football playoff as they ranked on top. Alabama needs to beat Auburn and then in a conference showdown against the Georgia Bulldogs to get into the playoffs.

Alabama subdued the Mercer Bears, 56-0, last Saturday to solidify its status as the team to beat. Jalen Hurts completed 7 of 7 passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns while Tua Tagovailoa added 85 yards and three touchdowns in 7-of-11 passes.

In rushing, Bo Scarbrough had 54 yards in five carries while Brian Robinson Jr. added 50 yards and a touchdown in seven attempts. Josh Jacobs ran for 41 yards in six carries. In receiving, Calvin Ridley posted 103 yards and a touchdown in three receptions while Josh Jacobs added 45 yards and a touchdown in two receptions.

The Auburn Tigers (9-2) will always have to look back about their two tough losses against Clemson, 14-6, and LSU, 27-23, as their two reasons of not getting into the college football playoffs. However, if the Tigers will beat Alabama, and both teams ended up tie, Auburn will face Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. This means that the Tigers can be part of the consideration of the college football playoff committee.

The Auburn Tigers are coming from a 42-14 win over the ULM. Jarrett Stidham completed 18 of 24 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns against an interception.

In rushing, Kerryon Johnson ran for 137 yards and a touchdown in 22 carries while Kam Martin added 83 yards and a touchdown in 22 attempts. Malik Willis had 64 yards in two carries. In receiving, Darius Slayton posted 89 yards and a touchdown while Ryan Davis added 48 yards in six catches. Kam Martin had a 41-yard touchdown reception.

Offensively, the Alabama Crimson Tide are averaging 41.4 points and 479.2 total yards per game (208.9 yards in passing and 270.3 yards in rushing). Defensively, the Alabama Crimson Tide are yielding 10.2 points and 244.1 total yards per game (156.7 in rushing yards and 87.4 in passing yards).

Offensively, the Auburn Tigers are averaging 37.6 points and 475.9 totally yards per game (231.9 in passing yards and 244.0 in rushing yards). Defensively, the Auburn Tigers are yielding 16.6 points and 302.5 total yards per game (184.4 in passing yards and 118.2 in rushing yards) per game.
