The Ohio State Buckeyes will start their season on the road to play the Virginia Tech Hokies on Monday, at 8:00 PM ET, at the Lane Stadium, Blacksburg, VA.

The reigning college football playoff champions Ohio State Buckeyes are determined as ever to get back into chasing another title through the leadership of coach Urban Meyer. One of the biggest mysteries for Meyer would be his announcement of the starting quarterback between J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones. No announcement has been made on who will start.

ESPN college football analyst believes that Cardale Jones will be the starter.

“J.T. Barret was named a captain and there is no doubt he is a team leader and at some point this year will play a significant role,” Schad said. “But I am here to tell you guys that I believe tonight Cardale Jones is going to play a significant role and I would not be surprised if it’s Cardale Jones … starts against Virginia Tech and gets a relatively long leash – if that does in fact happen.

The Buckeyes, with J.T. Barrett, lost to the Virginia Tech Hokies last year, 35-21, that almost caused the season of Ohio State. Thus, many believe that Cardale Jones might be starting this game to avoid another debacle.

The Hokies defended Barrett well last season as the quarterback and the offensive line faltered as the game progresses. Barrett finished the game with 24 runs, seven sacks, and 2.9 yards averaged per carry. Barrett completed just 31 percent of his passes (9-of-29, 219 yards) and threw three interceptions

Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster ran various formations that put a big emphasis on winning in the trenches and placing up the box to eliminate the running game Barrett possessed. Foster told reporters that Virginia Tech plan does not change.

“We’ll know more after a game like Ohio State, where you’ve got to cover some great people. You’ve got to make some tackles,” coach Frank Beamer said. “You’ve got to get singled up a little bit. You’ve got to make a tackle.”

For the Buckeyes, no matter who is at the center, they have the chance to win. Ohio State football is gifted with two quarterbacks who can play with the same system that coach Meyer installed.
