Dolphins vs Redskins Final Scores, Results and Updates: NFL Scores Week One. The Miami Dolphins face the Washington Redskins in Week One of the NFL regular season on Sunday, start time at 1:00 PM ET, at the FedEx Field, Landover, Md.
The Washington Redskins start their journey in the NFL without Robert Griffin III, who suffered a concussion on Aug. 20. Kirk Cousins will be the starting quarterback as coach Jay Gruden selected him over RG3 and Colt McCoy.
”The only distractions, like I said, are made out here,” said Gruden, referencing the media. ”We don’t feel like he’s a distraction at all. We feel like he’s a quarterback that’s young and talented and done some great things.”
Last week, the Washington Redskins suffered a 17-16 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in NFL Preseason. Colt MCCoy threw for 208 yards and one touchdown in 22-for-33 passes. Mack Brown rushed 13 times for 48 yards and a touchdown.
The Miami Dolphins will rely on their defense with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Dolphins kept Ryan Tannehill in a $96 million contract for six years. Tannehill is one of happiest Dolphins with the new contract extension and he hopes to elevate his game this season.
”Our quarterback’s going into his second year in the system, and coming off a year which was his best year of his three,” coach Joe Philbin said. ”We anticipate he’s going to continue to get better.”
Last week, the Miami Dolphins lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 22-17. Josh Freeman threw for 165 yards in 13-for-22 passes while Bethel Thompson added 127 yards in 11-for-16 passes. Mike Gillislee rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns in 17 carries.
