The Detroit Lions defeated the New York Jets 23-3 in their first preseason game. Dan Orlovsky completed 5 of 11 passes for 96 yards and one touchdown against no interceptions. Moreover, Kellen Moore threw for 67 yards in a 7 for 9 passes with no touchdowns against one interception. Expect Orlovsky and Moore to play numbers of minutes in this game. Matthew Stafford will likely plays for one or two snaps. He was 2 for 2 for 57 yards against the Jets.
Greg Salas caught five passes for 92 yards and one touchdown to lead the Lions. Golden Tate added 57 yards and a touchdown in two catches. In the running game, Ameer Abdullah had 67 yards in seven attempts while Zach Zenner had 66 yards in 13 rushes.
The Washington Redskins pulled off a 20-17 win over the Cleveland Browns in which quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 12 for 14 passes for 154 yards. Robert Griffin III added 36 yards in 4 for 8 passes. There’s no doubt that Cousins and Colt McCoy will take majority of snaps in this game.
In the receiving end, Andre Roberts caught four passes for 71 yards and Rashad Ross added 68 yards in seven receptions. Ryan Grand and Reggie Bell were combined for 54 yards in receiving. Alfred Morries rushed for 42 yards in eight attempts while Matt Jones added 38 yards in eight attempts.
