2012 Cotton Bowl Score: 19-9 Arkansas in control in the first half
Final
Kansas State 16
Arkansas 29
While many expected it to be a high scoring Cotton Bowl 2012, it is hard to believe that the offense of Kansas State is currently tamed as Arkansas leads 19-9 in the first half. Again the Razorbacks defense is in full display except in the last five minutes of the second quarter as the Wildcats scored nine consecutive points, from a safety and from a 3 yard touchdown pass from Collin Klein to Andre McDonald.
Tyler Wilson has been doing the damage as he threw 83 yards in 9 of 15 passes and a touchdown. Wilson also rushed for 28 yards already that surprises the defense of Kansas State. Wilson’s lone touchdown pass to Jarius Wright provided the early advantage for the Arkansas football.
Adding up to the the offense of Arkansas was the 51 yard touchdown punt return of Joe Adams early in the second quarter. Dennis Johnson also had 33 yards in 5 carries for the Razorbacks as they are pounding the ground. While Ronnie Wingo is being limited to 19 yards in seven carries.
On the other hand, the Kansas State offense through Collin Klein is not working that well aside from a 3 yard touchdown pass to Andre McDonald at the end of the second quarter. Klein is only 4 of 11 passes for 25 yards. His rushing also is checked by Arkansas defense as he rushed 12 times turning only for 14 yards.
This Cotton Bowl is not yet over and the Wildcats need to explode offensively in the second half. As for Arkansas, the stifling defense must continue so that they will secure the Cotton Bowl.
