Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe in an interview with Extra on Tuesday said he’s not kicking the New Jersey native out of the competition, saying that her fate is in the hands of the voters. Lythgoe went on to say this kind of competition is part popularity contest. Simon Cowell, Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson have also given their opinions on the matter.
Simon said “(It should) not affect her standing on the show, and if the public wants to keep her in, they’ll keep her in. These people haven’t done anything illegal; that’s their private life.”
This does however fly in the face of the explusion that was handed to Frenchie Davis when topless photos of her showed up during season 2.
Randy Jackson had this to say, “Nobody’s clean in the entertainment business. There are definitely some moral things that go on with this show.”
As we reported earlier, the girls performances which will be aired tonight were recorded this past Saturday and Antonella was definitely one of the singers. It’sOnMyTV was told she did well but her eyes seemed a little puffy due to all the crying over the situation.
Regardless, she will need a solid performance to remain in the competition. This might be a popularity contest right now but that will change soon enough. As the contestants are whittled down, their ability to sing and put on solid performances will become key to their survival.
